FAQs: Appointments

How do I schedule an appointment?

Appointments must be scheduled online by using our online scheduler. Pre-payment is required due to limited schedule availability. All intake forms must be completed and submitted prior to your first appointment.

All applicable intake forms can be found under the “Intake Forms” section of your Jane account.

***For Functional Medicine services, we require that forms are submitted at least 48 hours prior to your appointment time, which allows for adequate review of your health history by the practitioner. We reserve the right to cancel your appointment if forms are not submitted in time.

Does Dr. Zubiel offer in person appointments?

In person appointments are available at our Danvers and Charlestown locations for Chiropractic & Manual Therapy appointments.

At this time, only telehealth visits are available for Functional Medicine appointments.

Are there any system requirements for the telehealth appointments?

Online appointments are currently supported and best experienced on a computer or laptop using Google Chrome. Android devices work best with Chrome. If you’re on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) you will need the Jane Online Appointments app that is available on the app store.

Check your internet connection at fast.com. You will need a result of 15Mbps or higher. If your internet connection isn’t great, you will have the option to shut off the video and do an audio-only session.

What is included in the initial visit?

Functional Medicine:

Your initial appointment will include a 60 minute consultation with Dr. Zubiel, including case history review, and initial action plan, and educational materials. Nutritional therapy, lifestyle modifications and laboratory testing are often integral components of your wellness plan. Lab assessments are used to design your personal health care program as well as uncover the root causes of your health concerns. Nutritional and herbal supplements are often recommended, and we will help you select the highest quality products.

Chiropractic & Manual Therapies:

Your initial appointment will include a 60 minute consultation with Dr. Zubiel, including a detailed health history, discussion of complaints and goals, and physical evaluation. If time permits, treatment is included (joint manipulation/mobilization, soft tissue therapy, myofascial release, dry needling, and/or therapeutic exercises) at no additional cost.

I don’t like back cracking, do I have to have a chiropractic adjustment?

No! Manual therapies, such as dry needling, myofascial release, and exercises, can be done independent of chiropractic joint manipulation. Gentle joint mobilization can achieve similar results, but instead of a quick force, a slow oscillating movement is used.

How many lab tests are required for Functional Medicine services?

Lab tests are not required. Although, they may be recommended for optimal outcomes. The number of labs recommended will depend on your individual situation, including the number of issues you struggle with and the length of time you have been experiencing them. The typical range is 1-3 lab tests.

How long does it take to get lab results?

The results of your lab test(s) will be sent to us about 2 to 4 weeks after mailing your specimens to the lab. Blood tests are usually received within 10 days. We will contact you to schedule a follow up appointment once all lab results are received.

If I have previous labs results, can I forgo lab tests or can Dr. Zubiel interpret them?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Zubiel will determine if labs are recommended.  On a case by case basis, she will interpret previous lab results on tests performed within the past 6 months.

What types of lab tests are required?

Depending on the type of test, the samples required are saliva, urine, stool, blood spot, or whole blood. All tests are completed by the client through easy test kits that are self-administered in the comfort of your own home. Whole blood specimens will require phlebotomy services performed by a mobile phlebotomist or local lab, which may be subject to additional fees.

How long are the consultations?

Initial consultations are 60 minutes. Existing client follow up consultations can be scheduled for 15, 30 or 45 minutes depending on the appointment type.

Can I purchase supplements other than those recommended from Essex Integrative Health?

Dr. Zubiel recommends supplements from high quality and reputable manufacturers that can only be purchased with a practitioner’s recommendation. The wellness plan that Dr. Zubiel creates has specific dosages based on the exact ingredients in that specific supplement. If you want to do your own research on different supplements, we welcome you to do so but we do not provide any other recommendations nor advise on other specific blends or brands. If you purchase other supplements from other manufacturers, please research carefully. Not all ingredients are equal, and there is not a guaranteed quality when you purchase supplements elsewhere.
