FAQs: Fees & Payment
Do you take insurance?
We are in-network providers for Mass General Brigham Health Plan and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Coverage is dependent on your individual plan benefits and based on medical necessity.
Essex Integrative Health, LLC does not accept any other insurance plans, including Medicare (see below). Since we do not take these insurances, we do not bill insurance for you on your behalf. Upon request, we will provide you with a superbill (including ICD-10 codes for diagnosis and CPT codes for services performed) to submit to your insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement, if applicable. We recommend that you call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and inquire about your coverage for services performed by an out-of-network chiropractor.
Do you accept Medicare patients? As a Medicare patient, can I pay cash out of pocket for services?
Unfortunately, our office is unable to accept Medicare beneficiaries as patients, even if you plan to pay cash out of pocket. We are not enrolled with Medicare as either a participating or non-participating provider, and our practice does not have the administrative staffing required to properly manage Medicare documentation, claims, and billing requirements.
We understand this may be disappointing and appreciate your understanding. We recommend contacting Medicare or your supplemental insurance carrier for assistance locating a chiropractor who is enrolled with Medicare.

Balances are paid automatically at the time of service by the credit card on file (required). All major credit cards, including HSA and FSA cards, are accepted. Due to schedule availability, a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit payment is required for all new patients at the time of booking. The deposit will contribute to your balance or stay as a credit on your account to be applied to future appointments and services, including copays and co-insurances.
How much do lab tests cost?
Although lab tests are not required in order to work with us, we do recommend an annual comprehensive blood panel to stay on track of things. Most labs are run through Rupa Health and Quest Diagnostics. Blood work can range in cost from $100 to $350 depending on markers ordered. Advanced testing, such as stool, saliva, or urine can range from $150 to $450. Rupa Health provides the option to pay using credit, debit, HSA, FSA, or a 3-month payment plan.
Please note, lab services are an out of pocket expense. Insurance does not typically consider our lab requests medically necessary. We recommend talking to your PCP for ordering labs through your insurance plan.
What is your cancellation policy?
If for any reason you cannot make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule accordingly. We require a 24-hour advance notice for any cancellation, received during our normal business hours for cancelled or rescheduled visits. If you fail to notify us of a missed appointment 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time, you will be charged a $65 cancellation fee, paid automatically by the credit card on file at the time of the cancellation or late rescheduling.
Please note, the $100 booking deposit required for new patients is non-refundable if you cancel at anytime after booking. The deposit will stay as a credit on your account to be applied to future services or rescheduled appointments or will forfeited.
