FAQs: Overview

What is Dr. Zubiel’s background?

Dr. Zubiel is a licensed chiropractic physician.  She has been in clinical practice for over 10 years.  Please refer to the Bio section on the website for more details.

Can Dr. Zubiel be my primary care physician?

No — you must have your own primary care physician. We don’t handle urgent or emergency care. We act as consultants and coaches in preventive, nutritional, and functional medicine to help treat the root causes of chronic health issues.

Is Dr. Zubiel a MD?

Dr. Zubiel is not a medical doctor; she does not service medical emergencies. If you have a medical emergency, you must contact your primary care physician or dial 911. You are required to have a primary care physician and annual check ups in order to participate in our wellness programs.

Can you prescribe pharmaceuticals, such as peptides, GLP-1, hormonal replacement therapy, etc.?

No. Currently, we rely on lifestyle and dietary modifications to address clinical symptoms and chronic conditions. We utilize clinical grade supplements and herbal protocols when warranted.

I live outside of Massachusetts, can I still work with Dr. Zubiel?

Dr. Zubiel is licensed to practice in the state of Massachusetts. At this time, online telemedicine services are available to residents of Massachusetts only.

Do you work with kids?

We will work with certain pediatric cases if their parent or guardian is already an established patient at our office. Typically, compliance is tough in a younger population, so it is generally best to reach out to a practice that specializes in pediatric care.

What conditions and symptoms do you typically work with?

We currently work to optimize physiological functioning in individuals experiencing fatigue, low energy, weight gain, metabolic syndrome, high cholesterol, skin issues, gut issues, IBS, constipation, diarrhea, autoimmunity, eczema, hives, hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, headaches, migraines, and musculoskeletal pain.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine, rather than targeting individual symptoms, focuses on the optimal functioning of the entire body and its organs. It addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach in partnership with understanding the conditions and history in which the disease manifested.  Genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors all have a direct influence of long-term health and chronic health issues. How long does it take to get results?

Results vary by each person. Some people feel dramatic improvement within the first 3 months, others may take longer. Your body didn’t fail overnight. Years of various stressors takes its toll, and it takes a proper amount of time to restore and balance your body systems. The timeline of treatment depends on:

  • The severity of your symptoms

  • How long symptoms have been present

  • How quickly your body responds to the treatment plan

Functional medicine demands lifestyle and behavior modifications, which can be difficult for most. Functional medicine is for individuals who want to take control of their health and well being for the long term and are willing to make the recommended changes.

Will I have to take recommended supplements forever?

No. Supplements are designed to be SUPPLEMENTAL to your program to help ensure the best possible outcomes. Lifestyle modifications are paramount in terms of progression. As you progress through the program and solidify dietary and lifestyle changes, most supplements may no longer be necessary. We are a firm believer in obtaining your nutrients through food first, yet poor soil/food quality and increased nutrient needs are always considered.

Can I speak with a provider before scheduling? Does she offer complimentary consultation calls?

Unfortunately, we do not offer any complimentary consultation calls at these time. If you have any specific questions regarding our treatment plans or care, please email your questions to info@essexintegrative.com.

Can I email Dr. Zubiel with any questions or concerns?

Dr. Zubiel is happy to answer brief, logistical questions you may have about your protocol or symptoms via your Jane messaging Portal . If it is a complex question that requires further back and forth communication, she will recommend scheduling a brief check-in appointment to best serve you.

If so what is the time frame in which I should expect an answer?

We are committed to responding within 5 business days, with the exceptions of weekends and holidays. If you are experiencing a medical emergency you should contact your primary care practitioner or call 911.
